Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream*
Okay, fine, it wasn't a dream. But it was THAT surreal...
The iVillage editorial team had a Passion Party!
Actually, to be more specific Lindsey had a Passion Party -- she invited all of us. And it was "research" for another "I Tried It!" story she's writing for Love & Sex, which Marissa and I will post for your enjoyment within the next few weeks! All in the name of journalism, people...
Lindsey was such an impressive hostess in that adorable East Village apartment of hers. She laid out a dynamite spread of cheese, artichoke dip and chocolate (naturally)... and then there were these delicious Southwestern Black Bean Cakes, courtesy of Aarti who works on iVillage Beauty & Style:

I had heard all about Passion Parties, but I'd never been to one before. I have to say, it was much more educational than I expected. Danalynn emphasized the importance of lubrication given how infection-prone women are (probably not a coincidence that she was there to sell lubricants, but technicalities). She also gave us some random bits of trivia. For example, did you know that the nose is one of the most sensitive parts of a woman's body, second only to her clitoris? Indeed! That's why she suggested that we "try out" her vibrators by touching them to the tips of our noses:
Who knew?
Did you also know that, in order to hear your coworkers talk about their clitorises, it takes a lot of sangria?
Yes, that's a fact!
And, hey, if you happen to have a giant vibrator on hand, why not play Pass the Penis?
We all admired the merchandise, although Kate looks confused. (Kate, I have a ton of books on this stuff. Feel free to borrow them anytime -- no questions asked.)

A close friend of mine and I hosted a Passion Party about a month ago! It was hilarious! I had a great time, but I have to admit I expected it to be a little raunchier than it was! Our little party totaled out at like $975 in purchases. What a bunch of horn dogs! lol
I was invited to one a few years ago by my boyfriend /(now) husband's co-worker- who I had never met. I was willing to go until I found out that he wasn't staying with me. Too much pressure to look at and buy "toys" in front of people who worked with him!! He did get the catalog for me tho, but never bought me anything I asked for. lol.
I went to a sex party a couple years ago in college. The hostess had us play "who can put the condom on the vibrator the fastest...blind folded." And of course, the girl who won used her mouth - now that's talent.
Remind me to tell you my Passion Parties story sometime which comes complete with a mystery involving a $90 toy. ;)
I went to a sex toy party once and the hostess showed us a "lifesaver vibe", and it came in the Lifesavers candy packaging. I thought that was pretty funny.

hey ladies glad to see you all went to Passion Parties! I also sell for Passion Parties, and let me say it has been a wild ride! A lot of fun, and yes you do learn a lot! What is good about them is that they are FREE, I dont think people realize that. The hostesses also earn free toys! not a bad deal for a fun night out with the girls.

If your partner is afriad of a toy for you if you bring in a toy that you can use on him as well as one for you they are not as fearful. Its great taking the time to spice up a relationship and it doesn't have to be a toy it could be a fun game or a great massage. Just making more time for each other is a huge benefit.

I went to a party at my cousins and then booked one for myself to have. Needless to say I got a bunch of stuff and then found out about 2 months after my party I was pregnant! hey some of the stuff really worked good for us! 2 of my friends booked parties from mine and then they both got preggers too! we had so much fun and my husband and i have had a lot of fun too!! I guess when we get ready to have another baby I will have to book me another party! They are so much fun!!
I've been to my fair share of these parties over the years and they just keep getting better and better with their products!! I've been married for 17 years and we keep bringing more and more toys in...it's a never ending playroom!!!

I have hosted many sex toys party. They are a blast. I even got my mother to go to one. They are fun. I also have since then signed up for a sex toy on line store to send me emails on their new producs.
I attended one of these parties and only knew the hostess (and new colleague who seemed to be easy-going). I loved the women could talk about sex toys without being juvenile, that there was no shame in making a wish list. It was all very discreet, too. We took turns going into the bedroom with the saleswoman and placing our orders there.
I think more of these parties should be couples parties. Not only do the women get to maybe find something new - but their men can learn something new about his SO/wife.

I've been to quite a few of these parties and they are such a riot! My hubby and I have been to two such parties recently. We had a blast! One of my gfs finally went (reluctantly!) and I think she was relieved that she didn't have to demonstrate anything. (What a wuss!) All purchases were made in private but everyone always tells what they bought anyway. I think it's a great way to spend an evening and learn something about yourself (and your friends) in the process.
