And You Thought American TV Was Too Racy...

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (similar to our FCC) says that Australian TV station SBS (similar to our PBS) has breached codes of practice when it recently aired an "obscene" British documentary, aptly called Obscene Machines.  SBS chose the MA15+ rating (similar to our PG-13, but pretend it's PG-15) but, according to the Australian Herald Sun, viewers complained that the show was way more extreme:

One 2-½-minute segment features close-up shots of a naked woman apparently being penetrated by a mechanical dildo. Another segment focuses on an elderly man's use of a life-like sex doll called Emma, modelled on his 18-year-old ex-wife.

But here's the best part:

ACMA rejected SBS's argument that a large proportion of the program dealt with the sexual activities of the old and disabled and was informational.

Mechanical dildos?

Sex dolls?!

Informational?!?

NICE TRY.

Sounds like the British version of HBO's "Real Sex", lol.

I'd say that sounds a bit too racy for a PBS type channel! I watched a show on HBO about the invention of vibrators, and while I found it to be interesting and informational, I can't say that I would want my kids to stumble upon it.
