Election 2008: We've Crossed the Finish Line

obamamccain

Just because this is a blog about relationships doesn't mean its readers (and its writer!) only think about relationships. It's the presidential election that's been top of mind for most of us for quite a while. And, now that it's the morning after, I thought you might need a(nother) place to talk/vent about it.

Did you stay up all night watching the election coverage?  Is the result what you expected? What you wanted? How do you feel about the new President of the United States of America?

Talk back below...

Personally I'm not that political and I'm just glad it's over. I'm glad Obama won, but mostly I'm just glad I don't have to listen to the ads anymore. :)

Is everyone ready to study the Koran and learn to speak Farsi ?
Obama is a Muslim and no one seems to care. Frankly, he scares the Christian sh** out of me.

Being handicapped, I hoped for Palin/Mccain to win. So now all I can do is just hope for the best with Obama.

Guy, I am a Christian as well, but there are three things I feel I need to say.
1) Obama says he´s not a Muslim; he´s attended a Christian church his whole life; people say he was educated in a "radical Muslim school" when he was 6, but SDN Menteng 1 (the name of the school) is a public school that has students who are Christians, Muslims, Buddists, Confucians, and of other religions as well; Obama attended a Catholic school when he was younger. Does that make him Catholic?
2) This report about Obama being a Muslim was just used as a scare tactic to ensure that people wouldn´t vote for him. They referred to the school as a "madrassa," which sounds ominous and made people think that he was trained as a terrorist...but honestly, if you research what the word madrassa means, you will see that its definition is "school." You, too, were educated in a madrassa.
3) EVEN IF Obama IS a Muslim, what is the problem? The United States is a democracy. You are allowed to be a Christian, so why shouldn´t he be allowed to be a Muslim if he wants to? FURTHERMORE, the President cannot make you become a Muslim...he cannot make you read the Qur'an, study Farsi (which, by the way, is the language of Iran and Afghanistan, not the language that those of the Muslim faith are required to be able to read), or do anything else you do not want to, because we live in a democracy where the people speak and the government listens and not the other way around. You have no reason to be afraid. Just be tolerant and be glad you live in a country that is tolerant to OUR religion as well.
